Single Surface Playing
This section is dedicated to single surface playing. This includes practice pads, snare drums, really, any drum or cymbal with a specific emphasis on wielding the sticks and developing good technique. This is where a drummer learns to hold the stick properly, and play with efficiency, letting the rebound of the stick work for him. Dynamics are mastered, a multitude of rhythms are learned and practiced, and rudiments are programmed in to physical memory all the way to composing and playing music on a snare drum, phone book, practice pad, coffee table, or whatever single surface you are using.
